The Minyan inaugurates a new series, designed to let us hear from community members about their areas of expertise. In the first program, Minyan member Robert Jaffe, an attorney working on the ongoing legal case against the indefinite detention law, which allows the government to detain anybody they deem connected to terrorism indefinitely and without a hearing, will moderate a panel featuring Daniel Ellsberg, a plaintiff in the case.
Among the seven plaintiffs in the lawsuit are Noam Chomsky and Daniel Ellsberg. Bob has been the Minyan's Yom Kippur Torah service leader for many years, and hosts Beyt Yakov services in San Anselmo.
Location: St. John’s Presbyterian Church, Berkeley. This program is also cosponsored by the Jewish Contingent of Occupy Bay Area and St John’s. More info on the case at http://news.antiwar.com/2012/10/03/appeals-court-restores-ndaas-indefinite-detention-provisions/
